i went over to steven's tonight and played a little yahtzee with some people. the whole game is excellent metaphor for growing up.
when you're six you really wanted to be an astronaut. at the beginning of the game you can roll just about any thing and you're stoked at what ever turns up.
about high school it's clear that that whole math and science thing is a huge pain in the ass and the odds of you becoming an astronaut are somewhere between bad and not likely. halfway through the game it becomes clear that you aren't going to win and that you'd be happy to just roll something that you can use.
by the end of the game it's all you can do not put your coat on and wave good bye but half the kids want to add up the scores and figure out the winner. about middle age (which i'm not ready to claim yet) it's pretty clear that you're done with the easy rolls and are not going to become an astronaut.
