Posted by Kathy at June 3, 2005 04:42 AMI think it may have to do with the notion that intense (and unconscious, as it were) daydreaming and sleep-dreaming occupy the same trans-personal mindscape; that is, although dreaming is at one level a function of the brain of the individual, the "space" in the realm of consciousness that it occupies can go beyond the individual to a wider realm that is shared with others, every bit as much as we collectively share a physicality in which we communicate and interact.
